Brendan D. Delany

Biography

Brendan Delany concentrates his practice on advising clients in transactions related to commercial real estate, energy and commodities, and a broad range of corporate advice. While his focus is primarily in the real estate and energy and commodities sectors, he acts as outside general counsel to many clients providing advice across multiple industries.  By carefully assembling and managing the right team for each particular engagement, Brendan produces the results his clients need to advance their business goals strategically, creatively and efficiently.

Real Estate

Brendan has extensive experience related to the development, financing, acquisition, disposition, management, and leasing of real property, including multifamily, hospitality, office, data center and industrial assets. His clients include developers, REITs, hospitality owners/operators, lenders, sponsors, family offices and sustainability funds.

Energy and Commodities

Brendan represents commodity trading companies, commodity producers, trade finance lenders, hedge providers, and other business entities and hedge funds in connection with structured trade and commodity finance transactions, including metals leases, inventory financings, receivables financings, and ownership-based structures such as commodity repurchase transactions. He regularly assists clients with cross-border repo transactions and other commodity finance structures in non-U.S. jurisdictions such as Asia, South and Central America, Europe, and Australia.

General Corporate

Throughout his career, Brendan has represented various individuals and privately-held companies, as well as large financial institutions and hedge funds, in connection with a broad range of corporate and other outside general counsel matters, including entity formation, joint ventures, contracts, financings, compliance, employment, commercial matters generally.  He takes pride in acting as a trusted advisor to his clients, providing creative and strategic solutions to a wide variety of commercial issues across a broad spectrum of practice areas. 

Prior to entering private practice, Brendan served as a law clerk to the Honorable Terrence J. McGann of the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland. During law school, he was a published member of the Catholic University Law Review.

Brendan currently serves as a member of the board of trustees of the Connelly Foundation in the Philadelphia area. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Franklin Lyle Stroud, M.D. Foundation for Learning Disabilities.
